In an emergency, 112 works everywhere in Europe, from any phone, with no SIM card and even from a locked screen. It is the number to remember if you remember only one.
The other French emergency numbers: 15 for a medical emergency (SAMU), 18 for the fire service, 17 for the police. 114 reaches the emergency services by text message, which helps if you cannot speak or do not want to be heard.
For somewhere to sleep, 115 is the emergency accommodation line. Call after 14:00; a place is given for one night at a time, never longer. If you cannot get through or make yourself understood, Utopia 56 can call for you on +33 7 53 91 85 96.
For healthcare on the living sites: FAST, on +33 7 66 04 92 98. For free care with no money and no documents, the PASS clinic is at 1601 boulevard des Justes.
If you are evicted: Humans for Rights Network answers on +33 6 51 46 68 81, Monday to Friday, 05:30 to 18:00. You can call without giving your name, and they send “Police is coming” alerts on WhatsApp.
If a water container is empty on a living site, tell Calais Food Collective on +33 6 05 88 38 19.
If you are under 18: France Terre d'Asile, +33 7 61 44 79 29; ECPAT, +33 7 53 57 05 34; the Médecins Sans Frontières day centre for under-18s, +33 7 61 33 80 46.
Women, families and children: the Refugee Women's Centre answers on +33 6 71 51 18 15, Monday to Friday except Wednesday, 09:30 to 18:00. For children, Project Play: +33 7 45 40 97 65.
For the French asylum procedure, the OFII office in Calais answers on +33 3 61 11 70 20, or by email at asile.lille@ofii.fr and maraudes@ofii.fr.
If you go to sea, call 112 or the coastguard first. Alarm Phone, on +33 4 86 51 71 61, is a volunteer-run line: it can raise the alarm and put on pressure, but it does not come to get you.
